When reputations all around are falling…

Companies which carry the Proudly South African logo must meet stringent standards of quality in their goods and services, adhere to labour laws and fair labour practices and demonstrate responsible environmental and waste management policies.

All these elements speak to an excellent reputation amongst both industry peers and the public, and while reputations around us fall, Proudly South African is pleased to announce that a number of its member companies stand head and shoulders above others.

In the recent RepTrak ® Pulse 2017 reputation study conducted in South Africa by the Reputation Institute and Reputation House, the reputations of the biggest and most visible companies in the country were measured in an online survey taken amongst a wide sample of the general public.

Whether a good reputation is earned through direct experience, through corporate messaging and communications or by word of mouth, it is important because it drives supportive behaviour, equating to more sales, and the achievement of business goals.

Proudly South African member companies, ABSA, Nedbank, Nestlé and Edcon were selected amongst the Most Visible Companies. Nestlé scored the highest, taking the 4th position, up from 8th in last year’s poll, with Nedbank and Edcon coming in at 29 and 30 respectively, and ABSA at 44th in the rankings. In addition, Nestlé came 2nd in positive sentiment around the purchase and recommendation of its products, and 2nd in its reputation as an employer.

Said Proudly SA CEO, Eustace Mashimbye, “This is testimony to the standard and quality of companies we have not only amongst our members, but in South Africa as a whole. Our message of supporting local products and services, checking labels of origin for items made in South Africa is underpinned by the confidence we have that locally made goods are equal to any imported equivalent. Buying local sustains and creates job opportunities for our people. We especially congratulate our members who scored so well in this survey, as well as all the other companies whose reputations stand high alongside them.”
