| NEDBANK GREEN WINE AWARDS CELEBRATES LOCAL, NATURALLY |
Nedbank has extended its commitment to sustainable development and environmentally-friendly practices through yet another innovative project – the Nedbank Green Wine Awards.
Through the inaugural Nedbank Green Wine Awards, the Bank, which has been closely associated with conservation projects and supports the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative through its Green Trust, has made further inroads into the sustainability agenda.
For this awards event, wine producers were requested to submit wine made from organically-grown grapes. Entries had to be authenticated through the submission of a validation certificate, such as that issued by the respected Société Générale de Surveillance.
Fifty-one entries were received from nineteen different local producers and one red and one white wine emerged as the overall winners – Lazanou Organic Vineyards Chenin Blanc 2008 and the Laibach The Ladybird Red 2007. Oak Valley in Elgin won the award for Best Environmental Practice. |
