The Lapdesk Company, also a Proudly South African member and multiple leadership and innovation award-winner, including the Proudly SA Homegrown Awards, provides education infrastructure to school learners in primary and high schools in the form of portable desks.

The company, which enjoys the patronage of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, has one simple objective - to eradicate the shortage of classroom desks by the year 2012.  This problem affects millions of school children, both in South Africa and elsewhere on the continent of Africa. To date, in excess of 800 000 lapdesks have been delivered in South Africa and Africa.
