The prestigious annual Loerie Awards, aimed at acknowledging excellence and innovation in the media and advertising industry over more than three decades, demands the very best technical support.
It should, therefore, come as no surprise that Proudly South African Gearhouse SA was selected to supply technical equipment, including rigging, sound, lighting, video, media, power and backline, as well as technical support for this two-night awards event staged in Cape Town’s Good Hope Centre.
The fact that Gearhouse’s on-site manager worked with a site crew of 45 to service this project provides an indication of the scale of the event.
In terms of lighting, the requirement to light both the stage with its accompanying presentations, bands, DJs and events; and the audience for television purposes and live enjoyment was met with technical precision. It included the use of 70 moving lights, suspended from trusses erected above the stage and auditorium.
Seven projectors were used to feed the various screens, with work on the production process commencing nine months ahead of the event. Gearhouse Power reportedly used a combination of house power and two 300KVA RandAir generators to power the production.
Gearhouse also supplied equipment for the pre-show reception and after-party held in the foyer of the Good Hope Centre. |
