EARTHY BEAUTIES - MISS EARTH SOUTH AFRICA 2010

The 8th Annual Miss Earth South Africa 2010 in association with Consol, will be crowned at a Gala event held at the Emperors Palace in Gauteng on Saturday the 11th of September 2010. This spectacular event not only showcases the best beauties in South Africa, but is a platform that empowers young women and encourages them to make a difference in protecting the environment.

Gorgeous women of all races across South African entered this competition this year and only twenty one finalists have been chosen. The participants were encouraged to look at lifestyle behavioral changes within their lives and what impact they have on the environment. “These are individuals with the ability to go out and empower people around them in order to bring about sustainable and tangible green changes in their way of life and each young woman must leave with more than she arrived with; knowledge that she can impart and share with those around her.” says Catherine Constantinides, National Director of Miss Earth SA. All Miss Earth SA contestants have been involved in various greening initiatives which included clean up’s and educational activities.

Miss Earth SA has made a sustainable difference in many communities and has been successful in educating children to care for their environment at schools and their surrounding areas.

You may be wondering what is the motive behind Miss Earth SA and why the beautiful women have to partake in this event. For me the answer is simple. We should all be more than just pretty faces. All Miss Earth SA contestants become ambassadors who carry the message of caring for our environment to children who admire them for their beauty at first and then discover that their beauty is not just skin deep.
