‘GET YOU HOME SAFELY’ A PROFILE ON WESTHOUSE PROTOTYPING

South Africa has one of the highest rates of fatal motor vehicle accidents in the world, many involving motorcycles. Yet this increasing problem can be curbed through the use of technology and Westhouse Prototyping has ‘made a plan’.

Westhouse Prototyping, is an innovative company that is futuristic in its vision yet find solutions to everyday problems. They have created an Emergency and Motorcycle Early Warning System or E.M.E.W.S that alerts motor vehicle drivers of approaching motorcycles and emergency vehicles.

A transmitting device mounted onto motorcycles and emergency vehicles sends out a signal to the motor vehicle drivers who have receiving units installed of the oncoming motorcycles and emergency vehicles. Giving the motor vehicle driver enough time to make an informed decision on the road and eliminating the likelihood of causing an accident.

Another innovative product developed by Westhouse Prototyping, which works on the same principles is The Cycle Buddy. This early warning device, which fits on the handlebars, sends out a signal while the bicycle is in motion, increasing the visibility and awareness of cyclists.

These inventions seem so simple, yet their aim to get you home safely is invaluable.
