SOUTH AFRICAN FILMS RANK WITH THE BEST

South African-based films have made an excellent showing at the 82nd Academy Awards nominations – proof that local talent ranks with the best in the world.

District 9 received four nominations, including: Film Editing, Best Picture, Visual Effects and Writing (Adapted Screenplay).

Invictus received four nominations - one for Best Actor (Morgan Freeman as former president Nelson Mandela) and the other for Best Supporting Actor (Matt Damon as Francois Pienaar).
