CORPORATE SOUTH AFRICA UNITES THE NATION - CELEBRATE 100 DAYS TO KICK-OFF ON 2 MARCH
Having launched the “Fly the Flag” Campaign in 2009 as part of the effort to unite the nation in pride and to mobilise all South Africans to support Bafana Bafana and the 2010 World Cup, SA Tourism, and partners, including the Proudly South African Campaign is again encouraging all South Africans to aspire to be the best hosts we can possibly be.
This campaign will culminate in the “Fly the Flag” day which will be celebrated on 2 March 2010 – exactly 100 days prior to the opening ceremony of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
The idea is that visitors should arrive into a warm, welcoming and colorful South African culture. You and your company/staff/networks/friends/family/clients can assist by creating awareness about this and by encouraging everyone within your sphere of influence to participate in this campaign. The following is proposed:
Spread the “Fly the Flag” campaign by participating on 2 March 2010 at 12:00
The idea is to create awareness about the importance of hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ and to communicate the important role each of us play in contributing to nation building by asking everyone to join in, wherever they are at midday on 2 March 2010, to sing the national anthem, to dance the Diski and literally, to “Fly the Flag”. For more information on activities for 2 March 2010, kindly visit www.southafrica.net/2010/or www.proudlysa.co.za
Institute Football Fridays at your offices
Encourage your staff to wear the shirt of their favorite team every Friday to show their true colours as a proudly South African supporter. Many companies are already hosting Football Fridays, showing their readiness to be good hosts when the football world arrives.
Teach your workforce the Diski Dance
The Diski Dance can be great fun and presents a team-building opportunity that promotes excitement and national unity. Official Diski dancers can be booked to come to your offices to teach your staff the Diski dance or to add flair to a client function. Please refer to the corporate Diski Pack for more information on how to book the Diski Dancers. Visit www.southafrica.net/2010/or www.proudlysa.co.za
Distribute Proudly South African nation building material to your staff on Football Fridays
A great way to ignite excitement and patriotism is to distribute various supporting elements to your staff. It would be great if all staff could be issued with a Bafana Bafana jersey and be ready to support our national team at this landmark event. Other ideas may include making available South African Flags, South African beanies and scarves, South African branded vuvuzelas or face painting kits.
