World Population Day (11 July 2010)

11 July 2010 was World Population Day as recommended by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The focus for this day was on the urgency and importance of population issues. Issues such as the overall development plans and programmes of government and a need to find solutions to different challenges.

Reliable data is therefore crucial in finding the correct solutions to different problems we are faced with such as poverty eradication, HIV/AIDS and gender inequality. Each South African citizen should take responsibility to always provide correct information when involved in a census. Let us always be responsible citizens and be part of the solutions for our country.
