Welcome
Nedlac Newsletter
Welcome to the first edition of the National Economic Development and Labour Council’s (Nedlac) monthly newsletter, Nedlac Connect, featuring the latest and most important news.
Each month Nedlac will produce Nedlac Connect, which will:
- Report on key events in the previous month;
- Diary of forthcoming meetings and events
- Extracts from Nedlac in the news.
The work we do at Nedlac to achieve strategic dialogue would not be possible without the commitment and support of our social partners.
We held our annual summit in December 2021, which reflected the past year and identified issues for the year ahead. The summit was held online, focusing on critical issues facing South Africa, including the economic crisis, high levels of unemployment, the imperative to address climate change, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
What you can expect
This month’s newsletter covers three short articles on President Cyril Ramphosa’s meeting with the Economic Recovery Leadership Team (ERLT), the Nedlac labour school event, which brought trade union federations together to build their capacities; and the outcome of the Manco meeting on 21 January 2022.
You will also find a list of upcoming meetings and a snapshot of some newspaper clippings that may interest you.
